KD has access to expert negotiators. He's way ahead of us amateurs on a message board. Donald's value is based more than just his value relative to QB money. It's also based on the leverage each side has. We are going to see the leverage part play out. My bet is that Donald signs an extension before the season starts.
It always surprises me how often people don't do the full equation on things like this.
The EXACT SAME THING you said for KD can be said for the agent. Word for word. Why do people forget that or not factor it in? I think it's a blindspot. It may be that so many people are so automatically pro-management in these things, they don't even see the extent to which things said from that perspective can be automatically balanced out with equal and opposite things said from the other side.
And if it is possible that an agent can over-estimate a player's value, the equal and opposite thing is that it's just as possible for a GM to underestimate that same player's real value. It happens all the time.
So there's no infallible GM or team president out there (KD is essentially the team president, minus the title).
Everyone in this equation has access to tons of info amateurs don't have, and only some shoddy "blame the agent" stigmatizing tends to cause people to overlook that.
Everyone involved in this has access to tons of info and input, and at this stage the parties involved are reaching different conclusions, which to me just quite simply means it's possible to do that--ie. to come to different conclusions.
That's the reality even if we don;'t know the details in this case.
