Let me be clear. AD is a tremendous asset and is a big part of the Ram success last year.

But we definitely disagree about his relative impact on wins and losses compared to a starting QB. Even mediocre QB’s affect games in terms of W/L more than a DL player possibly could. Note, this could be on either a win or a loss. We are talking “impact” here, aren’t we?

IMO, of course.

Not gonna even try to make my case. Wouldn’t hardly know where to start. Maybe each and every snap? Lol.

We’re gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

Ah, after reading this response 43, I may have been answering a different question than you asked.

I was talking about positive impact. I see you're talking about relative impact on wins and losses.

In that case, I agree that the QB position impacts the game more than any other position.

But if we're only talking about overall impact and not positive impact, citing to impact as a measure of how much value a player has is a flawed methodology IMO.

General impact as you're using it tells me that there is a great need for teams to find someone good at the position in order to win. IOW, in an economics 101, supply and demand perspective, this impact metric only says there is great demand for a QB.

Clearly, other positions do not have the same demand. But that's only half the equation.

What it's not saying is that a mediocre QB is more valuable than an exceptional non-QB. This is the point I was trying to drive home.

Mainly that the impact a player has on WINS is the best measure.

(BTW, as an aside, QBs don't play every snap. smoking smiley)
