Well, as zn (and others) have correctly pointed out, Aug 7th is merely the report deadline to maintain his necessary accrued year for UFA status in ‘19. It would still be possible to continue beyond that date and even conclude negotiations throughout the season.
Hopefully, the rumors of a conclusion of negotiations and an extension signing before camp are true. It would sure be nice to have this behind us, huh?
