He needs to improve in clutch game situations. The NFC is so stocked with top teams that unless you have a clutch qb who plays consistently the same in clutch situations, including tough close games against top opposition, then it's hard to go anywhere.

There's a stat called "%Passes Comp, Late & CIose" which obviousy means late in close games. It's here: [stats.washingtonpost.com] .In 2017 Goff ranked 32nd in the league. We don't need the stat though--an example is the Phil game, when the Rams offense had 2 chances to clinch the game or win in the final 8 minutes and couldn't do anything. (A lot of that was the D too but they addressed the D in the off-season).

He also needs to play better against top opposition. This is a comparison between him against (1) playoff caliber teams with top defenses, and (2) all the other games they played.
