I said this at the time, I don't think the Rams would have traded for Cooks if they didn't know that he was open to extending with the team now. It would have been very irresponsible for them to give up what they did without some type of assurance.

NE knew what he was looking for and wasn't willing to pay him that much. They conveyed his contract demands to the Rams so the team traded for him with their eyes open.

I'm glad they followed through and didn't allow him to become a free agent in 2019.
