It's simple. If he demands a trade the Rams will have no choice but to trade him. That's all that's relevant. All the rest is off-topic moralizing to no purpose that misses the point.
If the Rams refused to trade him it would look bad. For the Rams. This is why teams don't refuse to trade star players. It would never look bad for Donald. If he demanded a trade, no one would go "tut tut Donald's in the wrong." They would go "wonder who gets him and how much the Rams will get in picks."
BTW that view is not going change on my part so if you aren't budging either IMO it's time to move on.
