Atlantic Ram
I was a little tough on Bulger. Like most QBs, he needed an OL that could afford him the time to make throws.
I liked Boudreau. The lingering question for me is “why the constant injuries?” And did his coaching method have something to do with that? Or was it just bad luck?
Well the Rams had massive OL injuries for years and it wasn't with just one OL coach. So who knows.
On Bulger and the OL wreckage---I will say this, there are some qbs who can still play at a high level behind a medical emergency OL---I think of Wilson and Brady, both of whom have done it, and some say Roethlisberger too. But they aren't common. And Marc wasn't one of them.
Just another story from another part of the timeline. In 2012 at the start of the season, after cuts, the Rams picked up a bunch of OL (Barksdale, Williams, Smith). Those guys were added in week 1 so of course never even went to camp. Within a few weeks they were all starting.
In terms of the OL, last year was such a great thing in comparison to that dark past.
Knock on wood. (Which I really did just do.)
