As a draft analyst I have to have standards that exist outside of a team's valuation of a player at a given time.

Is Denzel Ward a top 5 pick? Is Quentin Nelson not?

Is Brian Allen a 4th rounder last year? Every year?

This year had 6 interior linemen go in the top 35 picks.

Brian Allen is an intelligent unspectacular athlete who will "probably" be a sturdy center after a year of being a backup.
That's what his prospect profile is and it sets him square in rounds 5 or 6.

If many teams are looking for that prospect ... you have to take him above where he's valued.
But that doesn't change his value.

Rashad Penny was not a first round back ... but because lots of teams wanted him in round 2 ... you take him in the first.

Denzel Ward is not a 4 overall pick ... but They were willing to spend it on him because they had Myles Garrett ... if not? They'd have taken Chubb ...

It doesn't change their value as prospects ...
