A: "I went out there a couple of weeks ago and had a really good visit. I met with their general manager, head coach and offensive line coach. That meeting went really well. On (the morning of April 28), the Rams were in contact with my agent and I had a feeling it would be them. I didn’t think it would be that early. They said they were going to try and get me in the fifth or sixth round. Some other teams said the same thing, so they wanted to move up and get me before I wasn’t there."
So the Rams were planning to draft him in the 5th or 6th round, at least that's what they told Allen. I suspect they got wind of another team picking him before the Rams next pick later in the 4th round. This is what I mean by you gotta trust that Snead has good knowledge of where guys are gonna go in the draft. He has a lot of connections and insider info. And this is why when I hear guys complain that "the Rams could have got that guy 2 rounds later", it really means 2 things. 1) It's highly unlikely that they could have. 2) It's highly likely that the guy complaining about it didn't want that player at all.
