I agree. Initially I had thought they would tack on as much as they could in 2018 to his $6.8M to kickstart the extension. But now my guess is it maybe be a few million added this year with the
big numbers in 2019 and 2020 and regressing from there. They can have all the guaranteed money in an extension paid by the time Donald is 31.
Right now this team is in the top 2 in the league (behind NYJ) in 2019 salary cap space and #1 in 2020. Yes, they may be "going for it now" but they are
hardly doing so at the expense of future years. To me it is more about not only going for it now but trying to make as much noise as a franchise as possible to set up the stadium opening in 2020.
