I know what the Rams are saying publicly. But the Rams are very good about never revealing what's really going on, and never saying disparaging things about a player or agent.
But it also seems apparent that Donald has his eyes set on rewriting the value base of DTs. And perhaps even working towards a nearly fully guaranteed contract with perhaps even a player opt out clause after 2 or 3 years (those are rumors).
Bottom line: I'm not sure it's possible to get a deal done no matter how sincere the Rams are about making it happen. And if the Rams finally decided it's unlikely, then they have 2 choices: trade him while they still have control over it, or use the FT a time or two and then let him walk figuring they got more than their money's worth.
