It's just that, and I know it's anecdotal from past regimes...but man.....
Smith and Robinson at #2 overall....within 5yrs of eachother...
then, maybe even Barron at #14 during the GSOT days ......
BLEW IT FOR ME on drafting OTs in the upper 1st round. I just cannot see it anymore.
I don't mind taking a OT in the 20s...but they are just so scary sometimes.
However, for the other 4/5s of the OL...
I agree with Jem that those can really be found/developed as Day 2 & 3 picks.
But to yer point bout LTs????
I dunno...too scared!! LOL
Smith was 2 owners and 2 GMs and including interims, 4 head coaches ago.
But if you want to do history, going back to 1950, Rams have drafted 8 LOTs in rounds 1 and 2. 5 were hits. One of the 3 non-hits was Barron, who wasn't quite the miss Smith and GR were.
In terms of LOTs picked in the 2nd half of round 1---from 2006-2015, a fair number were drafted after pick 15 in round 1. Just counting LOTs, not ROTS. Of those the majority were hits.
There's scared, and there's abjectly superstitious.
