IMO, from what I observed Donald's run defense was just as good as ever.

Donald's top play versus the run is really just two things, he will go across the face of the guard and get into the gap and make the tackle for the loss and when the guard tries to outquick him and gets his hat ahead of Donald's then AD will "backdoor it"

In 2017 he didn't execute those moves like in past seasons and that is why his stuffs were down and in that part of his game did suffer and though numbers are not the only answer when you look at everything it does show the run defense was not what is has been. Maybe not by lot but while there could be some mitgation (like the old Sammy Watkins numbers debate) there is something to what I saw and it is reflected in the numbers.

Look at his tackles in 2015 compared to 2017. Look at the stuffs, he averaged 12 a year before and had 6.5 in 2015. Look at the PFF numbers he had 17 TFL in 2015 and just 7 last year.

So take a look, and come one, you have to admit at least I know what I am talking about. You can disagree but until I see some similar things backing up your point about Donald and Suh, it's hard to accept your opinion


And, now for Suh, read carefully what you posted—

On passing downs... Suh (and Donald and many others will move from time to time in order to get a certain look in the pass rush. But when I talk about Suh not being a scheme fit it is in the BASE defense, not the nickel

The run reads for a defensive lineman are different than the pass read. When we talk about the Rams in a 3-4 scheme that is for run downs or when offense is in base (21 or 12 personnel) in nickel (vs 10 or 11 personnel) they are not in a 3-4.

So, again, you are mixing apples and oranges. Suh may have done those things in their pass rush, but he's not done them full time, in base defense.

Not only that whoever wrote that blub things Suh is a 3-technique, which is only partially right. They are not writing accurately what Suh's position is in Miami's 4-3 and the two basic techniques he plays in base defense.

So you can believe that Suh would be great in between Donald and Brockers but it wouldn't work.

Even if Suh came and only played passing downs, where would he play? He's not a fit
