I owe you zn a straight answer after that quip
IMO no. I think Saffold could have played LOT and done well but not as well as Whit. Overall the O-line would have been weaker. Although I believe they still would have had a good season (10-6 or 9-7).
Okay fair enough.
In terms of quips, I started all this with a quip. I said something along the lines of this: the Rams won cause they lucked into Whitworth. There's some truth in there (yes they more than likely did better with him than they would have without him, and yes it is true that good veteran LOTs just don't reach the market that much). But obviously, mostly, as put, it was a quip.
What was the point of the quip?
Well first I don;t think "culture" accounts for winning. I think a lot of other things do. If they didn't win as much without Whitworth, would they then have had a worse "culture"? No they would have just had a worse LOT.
Which gets us back to the corners.
Peters acted up in KC. Did KC have a "bad culture"?
Talib acted up in Den.. Did Den have a "bad culture"?
Which finally just all leads to this. We don't know yet if the Rams can handle both Talib and Peters. That, I submit, remains to be seen. On this we're all just going with hunches. We honestly don't know yet. There's as many good reasons to believe they will handle them as there are good reasons to doubt they can.
