scares the crap out of me with these moves

Why think of the 2011 Eagles? Why not the 2017 Eagles?

Last year the Eagles built their team by trading for established vets too. Recently, the most competitive teams have been building via trades and major free agent moves.

Did they build it with low character guys? NO

Long, Jefferey, Blount, Torrey Smith, Ajayi none of them have anything approaching the players the Rams brought in.

Valid point.

To the extent that those guys are actually low character.

They are strong personalities. And passionate. And those qualities have gotten them in trouble.

But they were also both very beloved in the locker room. Hard workers.

Maybe the Rams don't consider them low character.

Don't compromise your integrity because your favorite team is involved..

Talib has rap sheet as long as your arm.

He also intentionally poked a player in the eye that cost his team overtime and a possible win.

The dude has multiple PF's, fines and he was once arrested for threatening somebody's life with a gun.

Drunk and shot himself with a gun.

I've seen this dude at SB parties many, many times.

He's straight TRASH Duke!!

Not for you per se but people have issues with black athletes taking a knee over the inequalities in the justice system , but openly accept these THUGS because they might help their favorite team win!

Its disgusting!!

I can see how you would have that response. I think I could have done a better job making my point.

I was trying to provide a context.

Let me illustrate... say I was a talented musician in a local band. I work hard at my craft, I'm passionate, I mentor young up and coming musicians. I'm a positive influence where music is involved. Outside of that context I'm a low life with a rap sheet a mile long.

In regular life, I could be considered low character. (This is a made up story BTW, Lol.) But in the context of the band/music, that is not the case.

The point is, low character in what context? If he works hard, if his teammates love him - and in the case of Talib his previous coach in Wade loved him too, if his passion inspires the younger players to give their best, and yes if he's even looked upon as a leader, then maybe he's not as low character in the locker room as you're stating.

OTOH, if his teammates hate him, if his coaches hate him, if he can't get along with anyone, if he never submits to authority, if he's lazy, if he's not a hard worker, if he only plays football for money and is not passionate about the game, if he's completely self-centered (Me not we), those are "low character" qualities that will negatively affect a team.

We touched on this in the Peters trade in our discussion that all character issues are not equal. It's why I asked yesterday if you could tell me how shooting yourself in the thigh affects football games.

On a personal level, I don't look at these guys as role models. I don't root for them because they're great people. The corollary to that is, apart from a few exceptions like killing people, what type of character they are outside of the locker room isn't something I'm concerned with.

I have one response to that and I appreciate the time you took crafting it.

But have YOU or do YOU have any knowledge of anyone that has canvassed the respective locker rooms?

I know that you realize that a few guys saying they loved him out of a squad of 53 does not a consensus make.

A few guys loved TO in the locker room to. Is that enough for you?

Are you really asking me how shooting ones self in the thigh affects football games?

What if he pierced an artery, a nerve, it could have affected his availability to the team dz.

First of all it was illegal, he didn't even have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. So he risked jail time.

Secondly its why players have clauses in their contracts which preclude them from participating in things that could endanger their availability to their employer.

Its reckless, foolish, and selfish.

All of those characteristics affect football games.

No LA, I don't have any personal knowledge of how these guys affect locker rooms. I'm also aware that you probably have heard more than me.

I'm not saying that you don't have a valid point.

But my position is what I stated in my "Me Too" post below. Me Too

From what I know of Demoff and Snead, they are aggressive but I haven't seen them being reckless or negligent.

In many of the moves they've made, we've learned that they were very thorough in the vetting process. I can tell from how Snead talks that he likes to cover all his bases.

Knowing this, I trust that they were very thorough in vetting both of these guys prior to trading for them.

Since I can't gain personal knowledge, I can't do more than trust that they get it right.
