While I tend to agree with the tag being used as a last resort, I wouldn't expect any of these players to be reasonable if they can get more money on another team. The NFL career is a short one and they need to maximize their earnings when the opportunity presents itself. Now a little less to play with your teammates, on a team on the rise over a weak team not going anywhere I can see as reasonable. But if the Rams offered Joyner 10 million a year and say Cleveland said hey here's 12 , or offered 15 million more guaranteed money over five years he's gone. March 6th is fast approaching, hope Rams don't let these guys go shopping.
What if the Rams offered Joyner $10 million today, bigjim? With heavy g-jack? Ten days before FA?
Gets to stay with team and teammates that he loves.
With coaches he loves.
On a playoff team.
Doesn’t have to uproot.
Doesn’t have to go to a cold weather losing organization to get an extra million or two.
Avoids all the negotiating hassle.
That all has value.
He would become wealthy here doing something he loves. From what we’ve learned about Joyner, he loves to play football. Money is not his biggest motivator (at least beyond a certain point).
