I don't think I can go through it all.
BTW...Goff was ok...he threw for a whopping 199 yards.
Gurley averaged 7+ yards a carry and yet McVay handed him the ball only 13 times. That was absurd. To me...that was the biggest travesty in the game.
This board has a way of creating a train like effect on opinions. What do I mean? Well...a train has cars...and there is a car called "Sammy Watkins gives up on passes" car. Someone starts the car and then everyone becomes an expert noticing he gives up on passes and they jump aboard. But there is more to it. They looks at his numbers and begin to think "he's not worth it." They begin to supplement their reasoning by always siding with the "Sammy Watkins gives up on passes" train car anytime a pass comes his way and he doesn't win a battle or dive headlong to catch a ball. It becomes a narrative because people are so caught up in saving money, they totally miss contributions a player makes in the whole scheme. The "Sammy Watkins gives up on passes" train car, allows them to hop aboard and use every instance possible to fit the train car and fit their desire to not sign Watkins. It snowballs. These are the same people who stuck with players who stunk from the moment they stepped on the field.
The resulting bias misses another train car...one I call the "Jared Goff throws a crappy deep ball and can't throw in tight windows' train car. You see, Jared Goff is as much to blame as anyone on many of those throws. Underthrow...overthrow...throwing over wrong shoulder...not throwing his receivers open...checking down too quickly...
But...people don't like that train car even though it's a valid train car...there is less subjectivity. An overthrow is an overthrow...an underthrow is an underthrow...but nope...if it goes wrong, it's in the "Sammy Watkins gives up on passes train car." Fans are afraid of the "Jared Goff" car because they don't want to admit Goff needs to improve...Goff isn't as good as Wentz at this time.
Did Watkins give up on a throw. Maybe. But to say he gives up on them regularly? That's a crock. And, if you believe in your beloved McVay, you have to now question him and the Rams because they want to resign him. So who's right?
Sammy Watkins scored a TD on 1 out of 5 catches. My advice...get him the ball more. 79 targets is pathetic.
As for your other comments...Johnson pedestrian? Barron? Ogletree?
After reading your post, you would have thought we lost that game by 21 points.
Hopefully Goff and Watkins grow together. I am completely perplexed on why so many of you want to practically dismantle this team. And I'll ignore responses that imply I think Goff is pedestrian or whatever. I'm excited about Goff and look forward to a better player in 2018. But he had his issues in 2017.
