Look how Dez Bryant has sunk in Dallas. When he had Romo, the offense was Romo to Bryant, and then everything else came later.
With Dak, he spreads the ball around a bit more (although not as much as Goff does). So Dez is often frustrated, and the question from fans is often: "what's wrong with Dez?" And then there's the salary issue for a guy who no longer is the engine that drives the offense.
Goff spreads it around a lot.
So you have to have Receivers who are OK with not being "the man"; without being 1000 yard Receivers; and with being willing to work without the ball.
Watkins was OK to an extent this year without the ball; but I saw some pretty lazy routes, and didn't see him finish other routes, even though when he engaged he was a good and willing blocker.
But is he going to be OK with that for the long term? As the pattern of his career with the Rams.....if he were to stay? I don't know.
Graham certainly wouldn't be OK with that. And it would be to play to his weakness and not his strength if asked to do more without the ball, and less with it.
So there's alot of elements at work here as to whether Graham or Watkins brings the proper chemistry and bang for the buck.
