I went back a ways and looked at rookie TEs. Since 2005 (13 seasons), 245 rookie TEs have caught at least one pass their rookie seasons. But only 83 of those caught 10+ passes. Only 42 caught 20+. And only 27 caught 30+. That's two per year.
Engram had a tremendous rookie year though he was also on an awful team with not many other options.
Even someone like Higbee went from 11 catches for 85 yards as a rookie to 25-295 in year two. I full expect Everett to make a sizable jump in his 2nd year. Like you said blocking ability is also an issue that takes time and affects reps.
