I don't think they are trying to engineer opponents. I would love to see a win vs SF either way. But I can understand sitting Whitworth and Sullivan on offense- which really means you need to sit Goff and probably Gurley. Maybe Gurley plays part of the game, who knows. On defense I would sit Ogletree and Barron but play pretty much everyone else. If the Rams defense can pressure Garropolo they can win this game with those 4 offensive starters sitting.
One speculation though. While the Rams in the 3rd seed would (assuming they win the wildcard game) go to Minnesota also at least consider this. As the 3rd seed IF they do beat Minnesota there is also a chance the Saints/Panthers winner could go to Philadelphia and win, which would put the NFC title game in LA.
Very much speculative. But possible. I still want the 3rd seed.
