yes, happened to Rams in 1984...

Early 1984 season vs. NYG. Rams KOR, AJ Jones I believe, let's the opening kickoff roll into the end zone and thinks it's a touchback like on a punt. Giants jump on it for an opening TD.

It was the same bizarre game where the Rams had 3 safeties. Rams-Giants-1984
