The Rams understand the most important thing when playing Seattle is to make Wilson a pocket passer.
From the pocket, he is at a disadvantage. He is short so has a hard time seeing over the Oline or finding passing lanes, let alone dealing with the oncoming Dlinemen. And, while he is a reasonably accurate passer, he's not Tom Brady or Aaron Rogers from the pocket. He doesn't hit those small windows as frequently as do the best pocket passers.
From the pocket, he is closer to an average NFL QB. In fact, clearly he is uncomfortable and can get impatient throwing from the pocket. It doesn't take much pressure for him to bail.....because that's were he works best. It's his DNA. He can claim all he wants that scramble plays are not built-in as actual play-plays; but the reality is that this is where he excels. It his off schedule stuff, running around buying time for his receivers to finally shed defenders, that is his calling card. It's where the big plays happen; it's where he discourages the defense and lifts the emotions of his own team.
Shut that down as the Rams did, and the result is predictable. Especially when the Hawks have no running game.
Who knows if the Seahawks back into the playoffs. But if they do, it'll be one game and out. They simply don't have a real, viable NFL playoff offense. All they have is Russell Wilson who loses his cape when he is surrounded and forced into being a conventional NFL pocket passer.
