As bad as last year was for Goff, the story is almost better this way for us fans.
The contrast, the growth, the positive energy of seeing Jared and Sean McVay turn that situation completely around, just feels really good.
I certainly give McVay a lot of credit for it. His coaching and handling of Goff is the difference.
But it also couldn't have happened without Jared Goff putting last year behind, and working his butt off to make himself better.
I think it's one of his gifts that he's basically kind of a fun-loving, goofy guy who can laugh at himself, and what happened before isn't going to bother him.
But he combines that with a love of football, a desire to win, and the willingness to work for it.
I think Goff is a learner, a sponge. He showed steady improvement through 3 years at Cal. And now this big jump from rookie to 2nd year in the pros.
Put him together with a teacher like McVay, and it's a match made in heaven.
)))))))))
Been hearing from many different sources that Goff is like a sponge and is extremely teachable.
It sure makes the footage on Hard Knox where Fishers goon is basically yelling at Goff and telling him 'Your not going to learn the playbook by osmosis'. And questioning how much Goff wants it.
It's amazing how clueless that staff looks now.
