He really is a 3rd down RB. He's had a handful of games in 4+ seasons where he's made some nice downfield plays. But, that's been it. I think that ship has sailed. Use him with what he's good at which is taking the defense with him on misdirection runs or taking jet sweeps/inside handoffs.
One of his 5 receiving TDs in 2015 was a two-foot shuffle pass from Foles. Essentially a run sweep.
But making downfield plays is not the sole criteria, right? He had 52 catches in 2015 to accompany 52 runs. That was his ideal situation.
I said before they drafted him in 2013 that he was not a pure receiver and I was for drafting him.
Well in 2017 I am saying he's not a pure runner either.
His best use is as a hybrid player, receiving and running. He proved that already (2015).
And yes the shuttle in 2015 was an inventive play. Add in all the other plays they used him on and you have a nice collection. Trying to make him a pure receiver in 2016 did not work. Trying to make him a pure runner in 2017 IMO is just as much a mistake.
