There is a LOT of research suggesting that kids don't increase parents overall happiness levels, it's pretty indisputable.
But that's an average and doesn't apply to everybody. Of course there will be lots of parents who are much happier.
Also it's king of taboo to admit such a thing.
The only person I have ever heard openly admit the arrival of his kid didn't increase his happiness levels is my best friend over here.
He loves her to death and wouldn't change a thing, but he also says he's a lot more stressed and anxious than he was prior.
He's a therapist though and will look at things like this objectively and through the eyes of somebody who is trained in human behavior.
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
