I think this holdout is disgraceful. He is under contract. Maybe it doesn't make sense, but it's a valid contract that he signed. Of course his agent should try to broker a raise in terms of an extension, but to not show up for work is just plain wrong. So I agree with the original take here. He's a great player. Maybe the best at his position in the NFL. But, he's under contract and it does send a horrible message to his teammates and his fans. And as has been pointed out his team was 4-12 last season with him playing full time. And he didn't play perfectly. Didn't he have a couple of personal fouls that cost us games? He needs to get better and he's missing team practices in a new system. Really don't like it. And I don't like the comparison to ED. When ED held out he had just broken the all-time single season yardage record. The whole offense was to pitch him the ball and let him do his thing. AD doesn't touch the ball. He doesn't score. There is a reason QBs get paid so much. Their role is that important. A star RB is the same. A DT? Not the same. BTW Hekker is also the best at his position and they worked a new contract for him and it's not like 20 Mil a year. The focus needs to be on the team and the players learning the new system. Not on what a lineman wants to get paid. It makes me sick.
