A lot of talk of 'big-play weapons' and if the Rams do or do not have those. They probably don't (until someone like Reynolds or Thomas develops). But you know what? They need "chain movers that can extend drives" MUCH more than guys that can burn 50+ yards downfield. And with Woods, Kupp, and probably the TEs (in this scheme) they have that more now. Maybe count others there too.
We might forget just how awful this team was converting first downs. Last in the league. 31.5%. Compare that to McVay's Redskins' offense which was 5th in the league at 45.2%. Again the Rams don't have Garcon, Jackson and Reed but they do have more reliable pass catchers than what they had in 2016 and a far less predictable offense. Could they split the difference this year between those numbers (that would be 38.3%)? Well, if so that would have been good for 16th in the NFL last year. I'd sign up for that.
Let's walk before we run.....
I totally agree and would also state defences will start blitzing and risk single coverge. Against the Rams to start the season.
Its going to mainly come down Goff getting this ball out even if it's just a 5 yard gain and Gurley being a bigger factor in running game but not necessarily on first down.
Let the whole thing develop right on on the field including audible.
We do those things and offence prospers.
