Generally speaking, it seems to me that pun-dits usually just judge things based on what happened last year. Ya know.
They look at the stats and hi-lites from last year, and then they predict...the same stuff will happen again.
Pundits often have really white teeth though. And often they have very nice ties.

I absolutely agree about the projections from last year. They do it for players and for teams. Really lazy thinking, and they NEVER seem to learn the lesson: last year's results rarely repeat themselves.
As I've said before, I am particularly annoyed by people who sit down with the year's schedule and tot up a W/L record based on the teams their team should beat, can't beat, and might or might not beat. A month into the season, half the teams on the schedule seem significantly tougher or easier to beat 'cause THIS YEAR'S DIFFERENT!
Only a very few teams are so consistently good (NE) or bad (us!) that it's fairly safe to project last year's trends into this year.
Drives me loopy.
Now, as for the teeth ...
