We know he has the physical skills, the burst, the wiggle, the intangibles.
But he's picked up the "knucklehead" label and I don't think he'll be able to shake it easily. He had lots of drops, failed often to get separation, and maybe even ran some wrong routes last year (I'll leave that determination to sharper guys than myself). He's a guy who's had a fat payday and I really saw his play (along with most others) drop off last year. I, too, think he's going to make some big plays this year, but here's the thing....
HE NEEDS PRACTICE. He looked about as raw as a rookie last year, despite 3 years of experience. I know that it's important to let that surgery heal up right and all that, and also that he was tough all the way through college and isn't likely to miss long swathes of the season due to injury and issues with the injury healing. But missing all this awfseason practice, and close-up, personal, hands-on coaching from McVay who has a proven ability to coach up receivers, well... that's hurting his chances. And I'm a bit concerned. After all, he is my son's favorite player!
