This statement defies logic. I'm sure many opinions went into building the board but at the end if the day there is a choose t o be made. If there is disagreement which there inevidently will be at times someone needs to make the call. That guy was Fisher.
We just know how it went because all major players have spoken about the process. Demoff, Snead, Fisher. Outside reporters who were in on the draft described it that way.
AND the situation you describe, given their process, was impossible.
It never got down to them squabbling who to pick on draft day.
They made their board, and any debates went into THAT process---ranking the board.
When the board was done they followed it on draft day.
So there never was a situation where a pick was up and they argued about it and someone had to pull "final say." It never worked like that.
But all processes need a chairman, so to speak, and the guy with technical final say was yes Fisher.
It's just that the way they did things, that did not make him this overlord who exercised authority over everyone. It didn't work like that. The process was collaborative and was centered around a ranked board they built together.
