"But one of the things was that Goff was really THAT not ready."
Q: do you believe management saw it that way too when they gave up all those selections to get him? If so, do you think the choice was worth what was given up in the form of draft choices?
My "opinion" is that management, including Fisher, were surprised he really wasn't -as you say-"that ready". I only say that because of what they gave up to move up to get him. But I would like your opinion.
Yes they knew full well. It would be impossible not to. In fact the college offense he comes from is infamous for not producing any NFL enduring starters.
But they gave up that much because of what he is capable of being.
Which is not necessarily, btw, an elite tops in the decade level qb. I don;t rule that out but IMO it would be gravy.
It's a very good qb with a lot of unique talents. A franchise qb. Which given his talent is something well within his reach,.
Is that worth that many picks? Sure. The Rams should know, since, from 2012 through the first half of 2016, the number of times they started what turned out to be an actual starting caliber qb was 15 out of 72 games.
In this day and age, you want a franchise qb...you pay for it.
And that will help you more than ANYTHING you could get with those picks instead.
