Fisher approached preseason as though the Rams had just won the Superbowl and his job was to protect his players so they didn't get dinged or tired out and would just build momentum towards the next Superbowl.
Goff and the first unit has to play a lot in order to gain the experience and the timing. McVay is going to have to take his chances with his guys getting hurt.
I'd say that Goff and the entire first unit have to play the first half of every preseason game. And by the 3rd game, if they still aren't in sync they need to play something near 3 quarters.
The 1st team defense probably won't have to play quite that much because they're just better. They need to play different coverages and fronts simply to get some live action.
They NEED to score points. They NEED to run their offense, be aggressive, and not play vanilla. Because they NEED to go into the season as confident as possible that they indeed CAN score points.
Final score only matters insofar as the Rams 1st unit on O scored points and the Rams 1st unit D kept the other team off the score board.
