1. In this football era, I’d argue that a probowl DT is more valuable than a probowl LT. And I believe the NFL decision makers feel the same. Why? Follow the money. A few weeks ago, I posted average salaries for each position. DTs were 3rd after QBs and Edge Defenders. NFL GMs are choosing to compensate pass rushers more than pass protectors. That should tell you something.

Let's just look at it over the last 3-5 years.

How many Pro bowl LT's have come up for new contracts vs pro bowl DT's? I believe the numbers will clearly favor the DT's.

Tyron Smith signed an 8 yr $97M deal. Name another top LT in his prime that has re-signed recently? Trent Williams?

What its says to ME is that in today's era pro bowl DT's are easier to find than pro bowl LT's.

I would personally rather start my team with a Trent Williams or Tyron Smith, than any DT other than possibly a healthy JJ Watt.

Look no further than the Pats SB losses against the Giants. The Pats lost because their scrub tackles could not block the Giants tackles.

Such is the case in any game, qb doesn't get time the offense doesn't experience much success.

Trends come and go, but IMO it is more important than ever to have a great left tackle, but they are obviously hard to come by.
