Making Gurley such a a sacred cow in training camp didn't accomplish much towards getting him ready for the fierce pounding he took during the season.
Was he an injury risk? ?
Were they wide aware he wasn't physically ready for the season and were trying to slowly get. Him up?

Seems like a few things behind the scenes that we'll have to chalk up to a ill fated year for him and team.
