I was never convinced from day one that Gurley was "It". I didn't think he wasn't "it"... I just didn't know.
One of the biggest 'misreads' of my life occurred with Gurley. Last year I watched Gurley live in LA... here's what I "Thought" I saw... and loved, in fact: He was taking what he could. NOT trying to make something out of nothing. He was getting that extra "inch". LOVED it.. thought it was indicative of a VERY smart player understanding he had nothing in front of him and doing what he could to milk everything he could out of nothing.
Then the season wore on.
He wasn't 'milking' anything, I came to believe. He had no vision. Or rather... his vision wasn't his strong suit.
What I still do not know: Was I right but then it became 'habit'? I don't know. I do know this.. vision or instilled habit he was missing 'daylight' when he shouldn't have.
I'm really no further along in understanding Gurley than I was before his first run in the NFL. I think he's definitely good, has speed, in the 'open' he's excellent but then who isn't?
I'm not overly concerned about him, however. don't know if he can be a Pederson but with a solid line and some help in the passing game I think he'll be fine. - JamesJM
