Great topic. This is my take.
In the scenario of the initial thread and we're trading a conditional 6 or 7 AND our Rams do their homework and background checks on Gordon he would be worth the risk. Jenkins had some problems too before we drafted him and he never melted down for us. Randy Moss has major issues before he was drafted and he is now recognized as a HOF WR.
It amazes me personally that players would rather get stoned than make millions playing a kids' game. That RB from Texas who kept getting suspended for weed on the Dolphins comes to mind. But, we throw away 6th round picks on all sorts of crazy projects. Why not try to get a former All Pro with one? I would offer a conditional 7 for him. The condition being he stays on our roster for the full season. You could even throw in a conditional future late round pick if Gordon becomes All Pro. Say next year's 6. Remember we got Faulk for a 2 and 5 and he brought us our Super Bowl. At that time he was in a contract dispute. Gordon wore out his welcome in Cleveland and he's on thin ice with Goodell.
He's a huge risk, but he!a a gamble that could pay off like a lottery ticket. Imagine Gordon and Woods split wide with Tavon in the slot. Higbee and the TE with 4.4 speed we nab at 37 are your TEs. Behind them is TG30. How are you gonna match up?
With a smart scheme you simply can't. Too much speed everywhere. I like.
