My son abused drugs for decades. Helluva lot stronger drugs than weed, too.
He burned every danged bridge with every other family member. He became ostracized over time for repeated lapses by the entire family, including me. We were estranged for well over 20 years, in fact.
Then, out of the blue, he met a good woman and completely turned his life around about 10 years ago.
Won't bore you with the details, but it was absolutely unexpected, trust me. We had all given up all hope and had "moved on".
Now, he's a solid citizen and a joy to be around.
My point is a simple one.
Don't ever completely give up hope. You just never know. I won't ever make that mistake again.
Maybe that's why I'm willing to cut Gordon a little slack here. At least to the extent of looking into his current situation.
