Like you, I see WR as a need position for the Rams. However, knowing that WRs who contribute as rookies are the exception I have little hope that a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) round WR will help the Rams much in 2017.
But I'm willing to listen: tell me why you expect a rookie WR to pass Bradley, Thomas, Cooper (4th round last year), and Spruce on the depth chart. (These are the guys that Ourlad's show as 2nd and 3rd string behind Woods and Austin. Also in the mix at some level: McRoberts, Shippen, and North.)

Not a simple question, AlbaNY, the more one thinks about it.
First, point taken about rookie WR's being slow to develop. But, then again, that's also true of TE's.
Here's my bottom line. We need O weapons. Playmakers. As McVay has said, the more, the better.
Tavon as a WR is misleading. He's not a true WR, more of a gadget player that has his occasional flashes. Doesn't scare the heck out of D's as a WR. To count him as a starting outside WR is a false premise from the jump. Square peg, round hole thing.
Cooper and Spruce are probable slot WR's. Might become good to very good ones in time. But we need another outside deep threat with hands.
The other WR's you listed are unproven, to say the least. Now, these new coaches may perform miracles at their development, but I prefer not to have to count on that.
So, by a process of elimination, we need another outside WR to at least threaten opposing D's.
That's my reasoning, anyway. And btw, needn't be the 2nd round pick to fit the bill. A 3rd, 4th, even a 5th (seen Josh Reynolds mocked there) might be enough to help jumpstart this passing O under McVay.
