Only two things stopped him from playing lots more last year: we had no OC that had a clue about what an offense looks like, and Spruce couldn't stay healthy.
... his not playing also means he didn't have an opportunity to pop our hope bubble. As I recall, Higbee also looked like a star-in-the-making in the preseason. In the regular season, not so much.
Spruce's preseason was encouraging - for the short time it lasted. Until I see him perform well in the regular season, I think I'll temper my expectations.
