hard to believe that will be true but who knows.
and how is tru a rental? hes been on this team for 5 (i think) years now. not sure that qualifies as a rental.
finally, if you let him walk, how does that help this team? pay another corner? draft a corner? id rather pay a known commodity. tru is a very good if not great corner. and hopefully they can agree on a long term deal.
I've posted my thoughts on a Tru second tag in other threads, PHD. But here's a 2 part quickie to respond to your post.
I call Tru's tag a 1 year rental because that's what it is. A one year contract for his services with nothing guaranteed beyond that.
Here's how letting him walk rather than paying the $16.7 million hostage money helps the team in several ways. Sign another FA for maybe $8 million. Draft a starting CB with our 2nd and let Wade's staff develop him. Use the saved $8 million to sign a FA starter at C or OG. I mean, there were other options.
Finally, while I remain a Tru fan, he ain't worth no $16.7 million per. Poor value in a one year bandaid "fix". Good teams don't do short sighted things like that. They take the longer view. Sigh...Quote

First move by the new staff and FO that I strongly disagree with, tbh.
Hope it's the last. Lol.
Hard for me to rationalize that Tru is a value at $16.7 million for a one year rental. They must feel that they can soon extend him at a more reasonable rate. Otherwise, it makes little sense.
This ranks up there close to that Tavon $42 million extension fubar, at least in my mind.
