I think Snead went from going a somewhat safe route in 2012 with the RG3 trade and selecting Brockers to swinging for the fences with Austin and then Robinson, Gurley and Goff.
I am more of a 'safe route'/value draft person personally. I do understand the Goff move because had they not they'd be basically right where they are now anyway.
I'll just never understand the trade up for Austin vs. staying put at #16 for DeAndre Hopkins (and keeping a 2nd round pick). That seemed like such a better choice to me. Sammy Watkins and Jake Matthews seemed more logical- and both safer- in 2014 as well.
I don't think picking GRob was swinging for the fences...he was the consensus #1 rated OT at the time and a huge need.
I think Tavon's college tape was what sold them on him, he was amazing..... Think he still can be a great asset in the right offense. He's had back to back 30+ yard TD runs to end the year (one called back on horseshit call.
