Hindsight being 20/20 it appears that allowing Jenkins walk was one out of dozens of mistakes the front office made. Could the Rams have kept him for less than the Giants got him for? Who knows but it seemed like Jenkins was truly insulted by the Rams initial offer and they never really seemed to intent on keeping him. There were many that were happy enough to see him walk because we had Gaines, but Gaines is starting to look a lot like Saffold when it comes to injuries. TruJo hasn't been bad but hasn't been outstanding either. His numbers (int's and the like) have gone down this year like the numbers of the #1 CB's always do because teams will attack the weaker link, allowing that player to get those stats. Early in his career JJ was just as likely to get burnt as he was to snag an int but he improved every year (say that for Fisher he could develop players on defense). Now the Rams are in a quandary because I don't think the TruJo has earned big CB money but the Rams cabinet is bare because it would be foolish to put too much faith in Gaines holding up. I was always more for paying franchise money to Jenks, who I saw as having elite CB potential as opposed to TruJo who I saw more of a size/speed plus inflated stats by virtue of playing opposite JJ guy. Sadly a player personnel/draft thread while lucky team's fans are writing playoff ones.
