I'm assuming, given the "players love him" information, that this "lightheartedness" is nothing new with Fisher and it's just how he is. Few people get their ears chewed off by a fed-up coach, and respond with affection.
So yep, it's an assumption. Maybe some light mockery will help--it actually wasn't what I was responding to, I just don't want coaches to try to bring levity into what's obviously a seriously bad situation. But it fits the narrative (admittedly neither of us know for sure whether it's true) that Fisher is one of the fellas, every day's a fun day with him, and you never have to worry about disappointing him because you're all buds.
Maybe it's an exaggeration but I'm far from the only guy with the criticism that "he's too soft on them", and I stick by my "whatever he's been doing it ain't working" position. Perhaps he'd make a great dad, but as a coach he's been a long-term failure across multiple teams, rosters, GMs.
Prove me wrong, Jeffy. Prove me wrong.
