If that really is the case why not just let Goff learn on the field?
So Wentz plays one game, gets hurt, limited in practice for a couple
weeks and all of sudden Bradford is gone and Wentz starts.
Meanwhile Goff is so bad he can't even beat out Mannion.
Did the Rams evaluate Goff before the draft or just close their eyes
and throw a dart at the QB names?
I think you have to consider the possibility that Goff really is that far away. So far away that putting him out there would do more damage to his future than good.
The Eagles aren't putting Wentz out there to get a baptism by fire. That could be what happens, but they think he's ready to handle it, even if he still has a lot to learn. Obviously the reports that came out from their minicamps and early in training camp that Wentz had picked up the offense better than Bradford and was outperforming him were more than just rumors. And that's going to be a huge thing with an ex-QB and OC like Pederson. He primarily wants a guy in there that he has confidence can and will run his system the way it's supposed to be run. Once he knows that's solid, he just wants to get him in there to get the experience. The Rams would probably love to be in that position with Goff, but they're not. Hopefully they will be soon.
