But that was if we're talking a straight up choice between the two.
Neither of them were the kind of surefire NFL franchise QB prospects that should have been drafted 1st and 2nd overall, not to mention mortgaging the future to trade up to those spots to draft there. There were some really good things about both of them, but some serious concerns with both too.
I agree with you completely that Wentz seemed the obvious better fit given what Fisher wants to be offensively. Even if somebody believed Goff had the higher ceiling as a spread the field and fling it all over the yard QB that he was in college, that didn't make sense for the Rams style. Wentz, on the other hand, should have been a hand in glove fit for the style of offense Fisher wants and has tried to build,... up to Goff. It's just another thing that made the whole Goff episode curious .
I'd like to see both Goff and Wentz do well. They're both easy to root for, nothing to dislike about either of them personally. They'll both be good for the NFL if they do, and obviously since Goff is a Ram, I'd love to see him become a Hall of Famer with the Rams. That would be awesome. But, I still think the chances are pretty good that both teams made a mistake and won't get a full return on their investment.
