But neither does Brees. Idk Gamo... I have seen Keenum throw that pass before. I'm thinking it was just a bad throw or timing issue.

I also think the Rams coach their QBs to get rid of the ball quickly and that's why we have a ton of quick rhythm passes.

Well CK (like Brady though at a different level) is going to give you a ball control passing game.

In terms of throwing long, he has done it...just in terms of percentages, he had a higher percentage of attempts of 31 yards or more last year than most qbs in the league (it's approaching 7% when normally 5% puts you in the top third of the league). That's a higher percentage of long attempts than, say, Warner in 2008 (2.8%) or Brady last year (3.3%). Actually it's a higher percentage than Rodgers (4%) and Brees (3.8%) last year.

Now it's not a lot of examples, but at the same time, a high percentage tells you something.

And here's the thing. If you do not have a top arm, how do you throw deep? It's timing, anticipation, seeing the opportunity quickly and pulling the trigger, and chemistry with the WR. In short you have to work on it. When I looked back at the play and saw clearly how CK underthrew it, I didn't think "oh oh noodle arm" .... I thought "oh well they don't have the timing on that down yet."

Last year in his first start CK underthrew Tavon and for some, that's all they remembered. He threw some since and hit on a decent percentage of them (by league standards) but some don't seem to remember that.

Now he underthrows Britt and people forget what he did between now and Tavon. For many, underthrows are like this black hole trauma that sucks in all other memories.

CK can throw long and has done it. BUT he has to work on it to get down the timing etc. You can build 2-3 plays like that into a game and whether or not they hit depends a lot on how much CK has worked on it leading up to that. BUT there's one thing that fits this---IF something depends on work, you can bet CK will work on it...he is a dedicated self-maximizer, which I am convinced is what the Rams like about him. If he can use his head to build in any kind of advantage he will. That's probably why he is the best #2 the Rams have had since Jamie Martin and Martin was playing with GSOT personnel.

Will Goff be better at the long ball? (Once he's ready to play.) Oh absolutely, there's no question of that. In the meanwhile, will they have a long game with CK? Sure, they did last year with CK, why not now too.
