Is it possible that some of those underthrows are the result of something other than lack of arm strength ... like not having his timing down with that particular WR so he simply throws to the wrong spot? Or perhaps he had trouble reading the play fast enough and threw to the right spot a split second too late? Any QB can throw a 30 yard pass when a 35 yard pass is called for: that doesn't necessarily mean the QB has a weak arm.
And in fact, unless CK's arm has become much weaker over the last couple years, the underthrows are clearly NOT about arm strength. ZN has also pointed out a couple times that CK is actually way up there among QB's in proportion of 30+-yd passes thrown - not what one expect from a guy w/a weak arm or one who worries about getting the ball there.
Actually I don't think CK has decent arm strength. He makes those throws based on timing, anticipation, and seeing the play develop. I don';t think he's a rag arm but long passes for him have to be worked on. He can't just wing it out there.
... how to explain the 60-yarder he uncorked without stepping into it? Or the various 50-yarders in his highlights? Even in the NFL a 60-yd ball suggests "decent" arm strength to me.
