I believe has already gained another year by drafting Goff.

After the season once Goff has a bit of experience, Fisher can and will say "Goff is just now ready to go, we have been building for this moment for 5 years, you HAVE to at least give me year two with him."

That was pretty much my exact argument weeks before the big trade up. It's why I said they absolutely had to make a big move. IMO, that move is what gets him another year. Everyone, including Kroenke, understands that rookies aren't great in their first year. Fisher can now sell hope to Kroenke and argue that he's making the necessary moves to get things done.

But it could backfire if he doesn't play him. It would start looking like he made a mistake drafting him. If I was Kroenke it would be easier to fire him if Goff sat the whole year. However, if Goff plays, even if he struggled overall in his rookie season, as long as he at least was demonstrating an upward trajectory at the end of the season, Kroenke would have a harder time deciding to start over.
