Nope. You're right. Mariotta had a good rookie year and the Titans were dreadful. Peyton had a terrible record his first year. Most rookie QBs do. Now, here's the spin...TA was a 1-8 pick as WR and scored 10 TDs last year. Britt was also a first rounder. Quick was the 33rd pick, one pick away from being a first rounder so these were highly sought after talents. The rest not so much. Now, what will our record be like? Well, we should have a strong D. How strong? Dunno. But, they should be good enough to keep scoring down. We have TG30. He is going off this year. He was coming off a lame knee and kept getting 125 YPG. He should move the chains, kill the clock while scoring. Our ST are good and could be really special. We have Hekker, the best punter since Ray Guy, Legatron who can blast FGs from mid field and TA returning punts. That should help our record too. We could win big if we have Case be our Dilfer and we run and play nasty D like that Ravens team did. We could roll the dice and see what Goff does. Afraid he'll lose us more games this year, but he could win some too.
TG did NOT "move the chains" last year. His many big runs notwithstanding, we know that he got stuffed a ton. THE key question offensive, IMO - as big as the quality of the QB play - is whether or not the Rams will be able to run for the 1st w/confidence on a 3rd-and-1 or 3rd-and-2. Will the run be a credible threat even on 3rd-and-3? If so, the play action is meaningful and the D can't sell out on the pass.
