According to Petros Papadakis on 5.70 L.A. radio Goff should not have been drafted number one. For those who are unfamiliar with the Fox sports program Petros was tailback and captain of the worst USC football team in history-according to himself. Anyway he says that the draftee never called a play in high school and never called a play at Cal. He said he has an average to below average NFL arm. But he does have accuracy and excellent footwork. He went on about how difficult it is to master the play calling in the NFL for someone never having done it at any level before. He said this was evident to him in training camp and was highlighted in last nights Hard Knox program - "Pickle whats a pickle", etc. He said that the QB is certainly not ready for the NFL now but because Fisher's job is on the line he will be starting prematurely and that may end up in the long run being bad for Goff. He ended by saying that Goff has enough tools to "become" good-not necessarily "great" but that has to take time with the kid. It won't happen as soon as we fans want it to happen and may not happen at all if he is rushed which it appears is the plan.
Now-please don't shoot the messenger. Because I've heard similar stuff-at least how difficult it is to grasp NFL offenses immediately let alone for one never having called plays before.
